End-game guide — 99+, expansions and the abyssal realm

Melvor's end-game is a matter of scale: a 99 costs 13,034,431 XP, but a 120 (Throne of the Herald) costs 104,273,167 — eight times more. The expansions don't stretch the same loop: they open new ones (digs, maps, the abyssal realm).

The real cost of 99 and 120

Anti-illusion landmark: at level 92 (6,517,253 XP) you are at the exact halfway point of a 99. With TotH, every skill continues to 120 with tier content (woods, fish, recipes added by the expansion — TotH rows of the reference tables). Prioritize 120s whose bonuses serve your other goals, not completion for its own sake.

Strongholds & completion

The 8 strongholds (Stronghold of the Undead, Stronghold of Magic, Stronghold of Dragons, Stronghold of the Gods, Stronghold of Blight, Stronghold of Fear, Stronghold of Nightmares, Stronghold of the Overlords) replay across increasing difficulty tiers — the base end-game's repeatable combat content, with the completion log (monsters, items, pets) as the long horizon.

Atlas of Discovery

AoD adds two linked skills: Cartography reveals the hex map (134 points of interest on Melvor) and gates the 18 Archaeology dig sites — each with per-size artefact tables (Expansions page). The expansion also brings the Ancient Relics gamemode: 312 relics across the 28 skills, each set of 6 peaking with a major bonus.

Into the Abyss

ItA opens a second world with its own curve (abyssal levels A1-A60, Skills page): 12 abyssal trees, Harvesting veins, 9 depths (Depths of Woe, Depths of Decay, Depths of Fear…) and Corruption — 23 effects unlocked by corrupting monsters. The tinted rows across the reference tables are exactly this content. Entering early is pointless: the realm assumes base-game end gear.

How to read

End-game checklist, in order: 99 the engine skills → god dungeons cleared → strongholds by tier → (TotH) utility 120s → (AoD) cartography + digs → (ItA) abyssal progression and Corruption.
