Memory Tree, Runes & Research

Once the Awakening loop is running, your power no longer comes from the current run but from what you accumulate between runs. Three fronts: the Memory Tree, Research, and climbing Awakening Ranks.

1. The Memory Tree

Each Awakening generates Memories. You spend them in the Memory Tree to unlock nodes — the game's 54 permanent keystones. This is your talent tree: each node is yours for good.

The Great Prism (unlocked later) lets you spend Mirrors to "Focus" your Memories and open a new Stage of the Tree. Keep that in mind: the Tree grows, so don't spread yourself too thin too early.

2. Which keystones to prioritise

Prioritise unconditional keystones (always on) before conditional ones. A few figured examples from the game:

  • Giant Slayer — ×1.3 damage against Bosses (Bosses are the real progression walls).
  • Retribution — ×1.3 damage for 6s after taking damage (cooldown 12s): strong but conditional.
  • Golden Envy — ×1.15 damage while a Trove is unopened on the field: consider delaying the open.

3. Start Research

Research permanently improves your stats via projects. Base projects rise in small steps (), but they stack multiplicatively over time.

Always queue a project before closing the game: Research progresses offline. Later, the Spirit Engine will automate this up to the Zenith.

4. Kindle the Chronosphere

Your Awakening Rank is capped. To lift the cap, you "Kindle" the Chronosphere — a relic that holds the keys to Time. Each Awakening-Rank gain makes all later Awakenings more rewarding, and sets up the Spirit Engine (unlocked past Rank 10).
