Progression & prestige
Tap Wizard 2 is a multi-layered auto-battler: under a very simple combat loop sits a long chain of prestige systems that unlock one after another. This page explains how the game fits together, from the first enemy to the Paradox Gate.
The core loop
The Wizard stands on a battlefield and auto-casts the spells in his spellbook at waves of enemies. You only control the Wizard's movement (by tapping). Killing enemies drops three things:
- Gold — the base currency, spent on in-run upgrades.
- Souls — converted into Power, which fuels Enchanting (passive bonuses).
- XP — levels the Wizard up.
You push wave after wave (up to wave 2,000), fighting Bosses at regular intervals. Each wave is harder; the goal of a run is to push your best wave, then "Awaken" to restart stronger (see the prestige spine below).
Combat systems
Meta systems (during a run)
Four systems build up over the course of a single run:
- Enchanting — you spend Power (from Souls) to conduct an Enchantment granting passive bonuses. The Wizard then "Reclaims" all spent Power over time; during Reclaiming, each collected Soul becomes Power immediately.
- Research — research projects that permanently improve stats (see the table below).
- Runes (46) — permanent bonuses; each rune channels one specific stat. see
- Chests & Troves — appear on the battlefield and release rewards when opened.

The prestige spine
This is where the game gets deep. Each prestige layer unlocks after the previous one and makes subsequent runs exponentially stronger.
- The Great Mirror → Awakening
"Gaze into The Great Mirror and Awaken." Awakening is the main prestige: it fulfills the current Fate, resets the run, grants Wave Points and raises your Awakening Rank. - The Memory Tree
You spend Memories here to unlock Memory nodes — these are the 54 Awakening keystones (e.g. "Memory of Will" = all damage). This is the game's permanent talent tree. see all 54 - The Great Prism
You spend your Mirrors to Focus your Memories: this grants a variety of passive bonuses and unlocks a new Stage of the Memory Tree. - The Chronosphere
A relic of untold power that holds the keys to Time itself. You "Kindle" it to raise the maximum Awakening Rank. - The Spirit Engine
Unlocked high in the progression: it grants 1 Spirit Orb per Awakening Rank past 10, and automates Research up to the Zenith. Its upgrades are detailed below. - Chrono Trials & Paradox Gate
Chrono Trials are a weekly competitive mode (Friday to Monday) that pays out rewards and Gems. The Paradox Gate is an optional end-game challenge mode, with the Paradox Wand and Anchor.
Spirit Engine — upgrades
The 6 upgrades bought with Spirit Orbs. These are the very-high-level bonuses that speed up everything else.
