Late-game guide — Retirement & endings
Late game, the game becomes a loop of runs: each Retirement trades your progress for permanent bonuses, Challenges add unique rewards on top, and the story concludes on one of the 4 named endings — plus a hidden one.
Retirement
The principle is simple: you start over, but stronger. The game's own text is explicit about what meta-progression unlocks — for instance (verbatim): “Unlock ability to choose a Class after retirement; Begin new runs with Study, Inventory, Transmute, Exploration, Expand Home, as well as all the furniture you can obtain before unlocking Exploration, already unlocked”. Keep the rhythm in mind: a Retirement is never a loss as long as it unlocks a permanent tier you didn't own.
Time Pieces (starting cap 100,000) are the time-bound currency that crosses runs — their offline and study generation is boosted by dedicated bonuses (OfflineTimePieceGain, TimePiecePerStudy in the code).
Challenges & NG+
When retiring, you can pick a Challenge: difficulty rises sharply, but the reward is permanent. The code names concrete ones: the “Mimic” challenge permanently grants a Mimic accessory at the start of every new run, “Tournament” a Trophy Replica. New Game Plus stacks on top for later runs.
Essence sinks
Late-game furniture defines your farming targets: the Soul Purifier costs 500,000 DeathEssence + 250,000 LifeEssence, and the Mana Altar 4,000,000 HolyEssence + 2,000,000 WaterEssence. These are ×1,000 orders of magnitude above mid-game — which is exactly what Catalysts and Synchro are for: without stacked multipliers, these tiers are out of reach.
Towards the endings
The last content wall is The Headmaster (lvl 60, 500,000 HP, 19 scripted attacks — the biggest rotation in the game). The endings named in the code: A Terrible Mistake, Redemption, To Save a Life, Transcend Humanity. Their conditions run through the storylines — and a fifth hidden ending awaits “those who have gone above and beyond”.
Check the Headmaster's card before the fight: its 19 attacks list element and multipliers — enough to pick your elemental shields and potion timing.
